Okay, even though we only have one character (an NPC at that) approved so far, I had a few general ideas of threads we could start.
1. A random thread just for characters to interact in the RP (I know we have a board for character interactions outside canon). Maybe have some character development or start a mini-side-plot. 2. A side-plot thread, something of importance (political, religious, social, etc.) to the RP but outside on the main plot arc (Angelspeaking, demons, etc.) 3. A main plot thread; even if Angels don't appear or Angelspeaking doesn't happen, this should definitely include Angelspoken characters learning about or conscious of whatever the main conflict is that's causing the Angels to Speak again.
I know, very, very general ideas. I don't know if a main plot idea has been solidly established yet, or if side-plot ideas like international diplomacy, trade, etc. have been decided on yet. Maybe the world needs just a bit more finishing before plot ideas come?

As I see it, here are the main things we've got to address: 1) Get the speakers doing something, and start getting them recognized. 2) Get all the characters to the point where they can do something. 3) Get a plot long enough/predictable enough that players can position characters in an interesting way. I have another character on the fire for the first one of these-- a belief-speaker this time, who should be able to get the word out relatively effectively. As far as I know, she's actually that paternal second cousin Wes has in Ra'isse . While there's always an issue with catching all the characters with any one plot hook, I think a reasonable first step in the plot would be an outbreak of war from Ra'isse. When they get wind of speakers/ Angels returning to the world, they're going to remember that Ra'isse has been more or less the only country still at all committed to the idea of tangible Angels, and like any warrior culture, they're going to interpret that as a divine mandate (c.f. the crusades, but with positive evidence in this world). My guess is that they'd start by blowing through some of the eastern states, since Eiseth is too hard to pin down and Iden is too large to go after directly. This offers a political hook to practically anyone anywhere, a religious hook to anyone in Iden, Kerritac, or Ra'isse in particular, and a wonderful opportunity for Speakers anywhere in Ra'isse, Iden, or anywhere in the eastern states to get recognized. Also, military occcupations are good backdrops for behind-the-scenes antics for anyone less cosmically important. This could qualify as your side-plot thread, plus a stepping stone onto a main plot. Thoughts? Comments? As for long-term stuff... my rough take is a four-way struggle between the modern incarnation of the Faith, the Angels and their speakers, secular society, and demons (representing roughly the corruption of humans by technology away from the values of the Angels, and vice-versa). As to how that's supposed to play out, I have no real idea. Not that we should have it planned step by step anyway.

That sounds good to me.... as long as our staff can come up with good 'reaction' from those in power in Iden so that it does get everyone involved (I know I'm really bad at coming up with idea for that kind of thing). Would this get involved characters who think they're AngelSpoken but are really DemonSpoken? And how old is this belief-speaker of yours? I realized after putting the "second cousin" thing in his bio that I didn't 100% understand all the extended-family terminology.

I'm not even sure I want demon-spoken characters per se anyways... I'll post a little blurb on demons somewhere in world building over then next few days so we can start clarifying that. As for my belief-speaker, probably relatively young-- no younger than 17 and no older than 25 or so. I think that should be fine with Wes' backstory.
